To all Cubox users,

Cubox is becoming more focused.

We are phasing out support for fleeting memos, images, and file uploads. We are letting manual organization fade into the background, opening our doors to AI-driven workflows, and allowing "Read-it-later" to evolve into your Personal Reading Memory.

Why?

For a decade, we tried to build the ultimate "all-in-one" knowledge base. We added features to meet every request: bookmarks, memos, files, and AI toolkits.

But we’ve reached a realization: Complexity is a weakness. In an era where digital hoarding is effortless, we don't need another warehouse for "stuff." We need a sanctuary for thought, a place where ideas are actually digested, not just archived.

While building Focast, I learned that true excellence isn't found in what you can add, but in what is impossible to strip away. Cubox has much that needs to be stripped away. By handing memo and file management back to specialized tools, Cubox can return to its true calling: to stop possessing information and start internalizing wisdom.

We used to help you collect the world; now, we want to help you preserve your thoughts. Cubox is no longer just a mirror of the web; it is a curated collection of your deepest focus.

Soon, through open CLI interfaces and AI Agent protocols, Cubox will become the high-quality fuel for your digital workflow. Your reading memory will interact with AI and note-taking tools in ways we’ve only begun to imagine.

The Transition

We understand this change may be inconvenient for those using Cubox for light notes. To ensure your data remains secure:

• A Graceful Sunset: Uploads for memos and files will be phased out in upcoming versions. Existing content will remain accessible for viewing and downloading for at least 6 months (until September 2026).
• Safety Net: We will retain your file data on our servers for 12 months. If you miss the deadline, our team can assist with a manual export via hi@cubox.cc.

Action speaks louder than words. We rarely repeat our values because they are meant to be lived, not just spoken. We are practicing the art of letting go, resisting the greed of "all-in-one" features and the FOMO of the AI hype cycle.

Cubox will not be a tool for "cognitive fast food." Our AI is designed to help you filter through the noise, not to replace your thinking.
