iOS 26 is Here. What's New with Cubox?

Do you remember the first time you used an iPhone? The tactile feel of the screen, the liquid-smooth animations—it felt like the world had become lighter at your fingertips.

With the release of the new iPhone this year, iOS 26 has arrived as well. This is the biggest change since iOS 7. As an app that is focused on user experience and native design, Cubox has been working on adapting to the new system since the early beta version.

Follow along and see what's new in the updated Cubox!

Liquid Glass for a Refined Experience

Interactive components now have a fluid, glass-like texture, making even familiar operations feel more dynamic and lively.

With this new design, Cubox has not only improved its look and feel but has also reorganized its functional hierarchy for a more intuitive user experience.

The Explore tab on the main interface is now a standalone button in the bottom-right corner, making it easy to access and hard to get lost. You can also long-press the button to quickly ask questions to the AI across your entire library.

Article Reading Controller

With the launch of Listen Anywhere: Your Articles Read Aloud by AI, we've not only continued to upgrade our reading engine, but we've also created a dedicated visual design for iOS 26.

The new controls feature a glass refraction effect that reflects the surrounding content, better integrating with the different theme colors of the reader. This makes the overall experience more fluid and natural, allowing you to focus on the content itself.

Customizable Reading Menu

The "More" action buttons for the reader are now grouped together in the bottom-right corner of the page.

For existing users, please note: The custom button order you previously configured will be reset after updating to this version due to data incompatibility. However, you can tap the "More" button in the bottom-right corner to reconfigure it. The new version supports configuring up to four custom shortcuts on the left side.

This custom configuration is saved locally and will not affect your settings on Mac or the web, so you can have different menu preferences on different devices. We also plan to continue optimizing the entire menu structure in the future to group content more logically.

Cubox's powerful custom actions don't just include official features; it also supports sending your Cubox data to your favorite apps like Bear, Day One, Craft, Drafts, Things, TickTick, Obsidian, and more through URL schemes and custom content formats. Learn more about Custom Actions

Cubox is your personalized reader.

Dynamic Reader Animations

To adapt to the new textures, we've optimized the traditional push-and-pull animations for opening the reader. The new animation is an intuitive, continuous zoom-in that feels more layered and dynamic. Following your gestures, each saved article feels like a lively card that is gently unfolded and softly put away.

The Cubox reader supports swiping at the top or bottom of the page to switch between the previous or next article in the current list. The new animations provide smooth transitions for these complex interactions. The visual guidance itself acts as a clear navigation tool.

Optimized Widgets

Cubox offers widgets in various sizes and with different functions, including reading lists, annotation reviews, and quick actions. These widgets on iPhone, iPad, and Mac now support the semi-transparent effect of the Liquid Glass material, which automatically adapts to your desktop state.

The text size for iPhone lock screen widgets has been optimized to display more content.

A Fresher Cubo Icon

Choose your favorite icon style from light, dark, color-adjustable, or transparent options.

Upgrades for iPadOS and macOS

On iPad and Mac, Cubox continues to use a gallery view with a multi-column structure, making full use of the wide screen. It balances management efficiency with an immersive reading experience, allowing for seamless one-tap switching.

With every system evolution, new ideas and languages emerge. We are happy to draw on these to strive for a "more natural use," making Cubox an enduring and excellent everyday tool.
